Interparlamentarische Treffen

The 6th EU-Viet Nam Inter-Parliamentary Meeting (IPM) was held in Ha Noi, Viet Nam, on 19-21 June. The European Parliament Delegation to the IPM was lead by MEP Daniel CASPARY, Chair of the Delegation for relations with Southeast Asia and ASEAN. Matters of common interest were discussed such as Russia's war on Ukraine, the EU- Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the EU- Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (IPA), Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing, the EU-Viet Nam Just Energy Partnership, and the EU- Viet Nam Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT), as well as infrastructure needs of Viet Nam's economy.

On Thursday 8 December 2022, the European Parliament and the National Assembly of Viet Nam held an inter-parliamentary meeting. The European Parliament was represented by the Delegation for relations with Southeast Asian countries and ASEAN (DASE).

Co-chaired by the Vice-Chair of DASE Delegation, Ms Vind, and by the Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and of the Vietnam-EP Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly, Mr Don Tuan Phong, the meeting focused on the following topics:

- Recent developments in EU-Vietnam bilateral cooperation,

- Global and regional security issues of mutual concern for the EU and Vietnam, including Russia's war in Ukraine,

- State of play of the trade and investment relations.
