Next Afghanistan Meeting 

The next meeting of the Delegation for relations with Afghanistan shall take place jointly with the Coommittee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) on 27 September 2018 at 15.00-16.30.

Meeting of 7 December 2017 

In association with the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs

With an exchange of views on migration policies with the EEAS, the European Commission, the International Organisation for Migration, Amnesty International and UNICEF

Meeting of 17 May 2017, Strasbourg 

In addition to the Chair's announcements, the meeting included an exchange of views on the development of regional infrastructure projects, with representatives of
  • the EEAS and
  • the European Commission.

Meeting of 9 March 2017, Brussels 

An exchange of views was held with:
  • Andrey Avetisyan, UNODC Regional Representative for Afghanistan and Special Adviser to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) on Counter-Narcotics.

Meeting of 26 January 2017, Brussels 

The meeting included an exchange of views on migration issues, with
  • HE Wali Monawar, recently appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan,
  • representatives from the European External Action Service,
  • various services of the European Commission (DEVCO, HOME and ECHO),
  • Mr Ayaki Ito, Deputy Director of the UNHCR Asia Office,
  • Ms Horia Mosadiq, Amnesty International researcher on Afghanistan,
  • Mr Geert Gompelman, Oxfam's Country Director for Afghanistan.

Meeting of 13 October 2016, Brussels 

The meeting included an exchange of views on the results of the Afghanistan Conference (Brussels, 4-5 October, 2016) with:
  • Dietmar Krissler, EEAS Deputy Head of Division for Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Maldives.
Discussions also touched upon migration issues.

Meeting of 25 April 2016, Brussels 

The meeting included an exchange of views on the security situation in Afghanistan and the region, with:
  • Mr. Nicolas Gosset, research fellow in Eurasian affairs (Central Asia and Afghanistan), lecturer at the Military Academy in Bruxelles.

  • the Afghan National Security Advisor Mr Hanif Atmar.
