Next meetings of the Delegation for relations with Canada
The Delegation for relations with Canada is one of the oldest delegations established by the European Parliament (the first meeting took place in March 1975).
The annual EP/Canada Interparliamentary meetings (IPMs) have generally reflected the excellent state of relations between the two countries.
Recent discussions have focused on the treaty framework under negotiation between the two partners - the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Strategic Partnership Agreement - as well as other topics such as energy security, visa and immigration policy or finding responses to the economic and financial crisis.
Discussions during the 35th IPM (28 October-1 November 2012) focused on the state of play of bilateral negotiations on CETA and the Strategic Partnership Agreement, immigration policy, fisheries and regional development.
