Chair David McAllister announced he was stepping down as D- US Chair.

Mr Chrisitian Ehler was elected the new Chair by acclamation.

The meeting included a presentation and exchange of views on the new foreign policy lines of the EEAS, with:
  • Ms Edita Hrda, Managing Director for the Americas, EEAS.

Meeting of 15 December 2016, Strasbourg 

A report from the 79th TLD in Washington was presented by the Chair, with the main conclusions from the visit and the TLD's positive results highlighted (excellent US attendance, Senate becoming a permanent feature of the meetings).

The meeting included an exchange of views with:
  • H.E. Anthony Luzzatto Gardner, outgoing Ambassador of the United States to the European Union.

Meeting of 10 November 2016, Brussels 

The Chair announced that this was the first US Delegation meeting to be webstreamed.

He noted that the 79th Transatlantic Legislators' Dialogue scheduled for 27-29 November 2016 in Washington DC would be the first occasion for a European delegation to travel to the United States after the elections and deliver a strong message on the importance of the transatlantic relationship.

The meeting also included an exchange of views ("US ELECTION RESULTS DEBRIEF: How we got here and what the new President and the new Congress will mean for the transatlantic relationship") with:
  • Mr Michael Birnbaum, Brussels bureau chief, The Washington Post;
  • Dr Giovanni Grevi, Senior Fellow, European Policy Centre.

Meeting of 6 October 2016, Strasbourg 

Presentation of the DG EXPO Policy Department study commissioned by AFET and D-US, "The Trans-Pacific Partnership: geopolitical implications for EU-US relations", followed by a question-and-answer session with:
  • Mr Peter Chase, Senior Fellow, The German Marshall Fund of the United States.

The Chair addressed the 79th EU-US Inter-Parliamentary/TLD meeting to be held in Washington DC on 27-29 November 2016.
