22nd EU-Republic of Korea Inter-Parliamentary Meeting, Seoul, 19-21 September 2022

The Delegation for relations with the Korean Peninsula of the European Parliament (DKOR) had a fruitful three-day visit in Seoul, South Korea (19-21 September 2022). DKOR and the National Assembly of Korea held the 22nd Inter-Parliamentary Meeting, the first one since the start of the pandemic (previous one was held in 2019, in Brussels). The Members of the European Parliament met with the Speaker and the deputy-Speaker of the National Assembly, as well as with key Ministers. 21st EU-Republic of Korea Inter-Parliamentary Meeting, Brussels, 4 November 2019

A South Korean delegation from the National Assembly along with its Ambassador had a fruitful two-day visit in Brussels on the occasion of the 21st Inter- Parliamentary Meeting. The delegation had an over-all programme including a visit to the Parlamentarium. An exchange of view on different issues with the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the Republic of Korea took place. Discussions stretched from Free Trade Agreement, to renewable energy, from the overall strategic EU-RoK relationship to security, from technology to climate change. During the Inter-Parliamentary Meeting, the RoK Co-Chair called for the EU to play the role of guarantor of peace with Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Neighbouring with Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Republic of Korea maintains advanced and strategic relationship with the EU. The EP with its active "parliamentary diplomacy" is committed to strengthen further the already existing excellent and strategic partnership with this innovative and vibrant country.
