7th EU-Georgia PAC, 18-19 September 2018, Tbilisi 

The seventh meeting of the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee (PAC) took place in Tbilisi on 18-19 September 2018. The meeting was co-chaired by Ms Tamara Khulordava, MP, on behalf of the Parliament of Georgia and Mr Sajjad Karim, MEP, on behalf of the European Parliament.

The topics dicussed during the meeting included:

  • the Implementation of Visa Free regime and Georgia's actions to address challenges in its application;
  • the Consolidation of Democratic reforms and protection of fundamental freedoms in Georgia;
  • progress and challenges in the implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement (AA) and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA), including the effects of the AA on Georgia's economy, the promotion of entrepreneurship and the enhancement of the investment climate, the agriculture and rural development in the context of the AA/DCFTA implementation, and the EU assistance in support of the AA/DCFTA implementation;
  • the peaceful settlement of territorial conflicts in Georgia, including an update on the Geneva International Talks, a presentation of Georgia's policy towards its breakaway regions and an update on the EUMM monitoring activities;
  • the key environmental issues and environment protection in Georgia.
The meeting concluded on the unanimous adoption of a final statement and recommendations.
