European Parliament legislative resolution of 17 April 2018 on the draft Council decision on the conclusion of the Agreement for scientific and technological cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Lebanon setting out the terms and conditions for the participation of the Republic of Lebanon in the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA)

PURPOSE : proposal on the conclusion of a Euro-Mediterranean Association Agreement between the EC and its Member States, and Lebanon. CONTENT : Lebanon's relations with the EC are presently covered by the Co-operation Agreement of 3 May 1997. The proposed Association Agreement will establish a new, closer relationship within the context of the Euro-Mediterranean partnership launched by the Barcelona Declaration. With eight of the nine non-candidate countries of the Partnership linked to the EU by an Association Agreement, the Barcelona Declaration project is close to reality.
