Motion for a European Parliament resolution on the effective cooperation of Turkey in combating Islamic terrorism
B8-0724/2015

The European Parliament,

–       having regard to Rule 133 of its Rules of Procedure,

A.     whereas a judicial investigation by the Public Prosecutor of Milan has brought to light the existence of an international foreign fighters' coordinator, who, completely undisturbed, has been organising, from Turkey, the arrival of fighters from Europe and has been distributing them among the areas under ISIS control;

1.      Takes the view that Turkey is not actively cooperating in the fight against Islamic terrorism and is maintaining a position that is ambiguous, to say the least;

2.      Urges the Commission, the European Council, the Vice-President of the Commission/High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the Counter-Terrorism Coordinator to remind the Turkish Government and the competent authorities of their own responsibilities, urging them to cooperate effectively;

3.      Instructs its President to forward this motion for a resolution to the Commission, the Council, the Vice-President of the Commission/High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, in addition to the Government of Turkey.
