Motion for a European Parliament resolution on the supervision of vehicle emissions testing procedures
B8‑0962/2015

The European Parliament,

–       having regard to Rule 133 of its Rules of Procedure,

A.     whereas the reduction of vehicle emissions plays an important role in reducing overall greenhouse gas emissions as part of the fight against climate change;

B.     whereas vehicle emissions certificates and test results are important criteria that influence people’s vehicle-purchasing decisions;

C.     whereas the transport industry is a major employer in the EU;

1.      Considers it very important to restore the trust of buyers within and outside the EU in vehicle emissions tests and certificates, given the recent revelations regarding diesel vehicle emissions tests in the United States;

2.      Calls on the Commission to verify immediately and, if necessary, improve the quality and reliability of processes related to the testing and certification of vehicle emissions in the EU.
