B8-1057/2015

The European Parliament,

–  having regard to Rule 133 of its Rules of Procedure,

A.  whereas the goal of the Europe 2020 strategy is to achieve inclusive growth and tackle poverty;

B.  whereas the aim of social benefits is to help people who are in a vulnerable position;

C.  whereas research carried out by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound) on access to social benefits shows that people in vulnerable circumstances do not receive the funds to which they are entitled because the administrative procedures are costly or complex;

D.  whereas improving administrative procedures is also important from the point of view of reducing the cost of public administration and using public funds rationally and effectively;

Calls on the Commission,

1.  To use the European Social Fund to support activities in the Member States aimed at simplifying and reducing the cost of administrative procedures connected with access to social benefits.
