MOTION FOR A RESOLUTION on the application of Bosnia and Herzegovina for accession to the European Union

Motion for a European Parliament resolution on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s application for accession to the European Union

The European Parliament,

–  having regard to Rule 133 of its Rules of Procedure,

A.  whereas on Monday 15 February 2016, Bosnia and Herzegovina filed an official application for accession to the European Union with the Dutch European Union Presidency;

B.  whereas there are persisting tensions between different communities in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina;

C.  whereas the Serbian Republic of Bosnia has fallen victim to obstructionism even within the Federation and some Atlanticists from the international community have expressed an unjustified sense of mistrust;

1.  Invites the European institutions to hold regular consultations with the Serbian Republic of Bosnia on all issues concerning the aforesaid application for accession to the European Union.
