Motion for a European Parliament resolution on promoting worker participation in company management  

The European Parliament,

–  having regard to Rule 133 of its Rules of Procedure,

A.  whereas without effective worker participation in the strategic choices made by companies it will be difficult to boost employment and strengthen the European economy;

B.  whereas the promotion of worker participation in company management fosters corporate social responsibility and the promotion of labour as a subject, rather than object, of the economy;

C.  whereas Parliament, in its resolution of 19 January 2017 on a European Pillar of Social Rights, pointed out that involving workers in decision-making and company management was valuable in order to make appropriate use of new forms of work organisation and to anticipate economic change;

D.  whereas the European Union, in accordance with Articles 5, 114, 115, 151 and 153 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU), may support and complement Member States’ activities relating to worker involvement;

1.   Calls on the Commission to propose a package of legislative measures to promote, throughout the Union, a greater participation of workers in company management.
