Research and innovation in the blue economy to create jobs and growth (A8-0214/2015 - João Ferreira)

  Antanas Guoga (ALDE), in writing. ‒ I have abstained on the report on the research and innovation in the blue economy. My decision was based on the grounds of the adoption of many amendments calling for increased public funding and state aid, and the lack of any mention of the role of the private sector in developing the blue economy. Nevertheless, the report is calling for the defence of biodiversity, innovation, research, modernisation, and yet generally, I am in favour of the development of the blue economy as the source of job places which has the potential to contribute to the growth of the economy.
