  Andrejs Mamikins (S&D). – Paldies, priekšsēdētāja kungs! Kopuzņēmums ENIAC, tāpat kā ar to apvienotais un apskatītais kopuzņēmums “Artemis”, nodarbojas ar pētniecības programmas sagatavošanu un tai sekojošu īstenošanu, kuras mērķis ir inovāciju sekmēšana nanoelektronisko prasmju jomā ar nolūku pielietot tās visdažādākajās praktiskajās sfērās.

Kopuzņēmumu izveidoja 2007. gada beigās, tā dibinātāju sarakstā ir gan Eiropas Komisija, gan Nanoelektronikas pasākumu asociācija, un arī veselas 13 Eiropas Savienības dalībvalstis. Diemžēl manas valsts – Latvijas – šajā sarakstā nebija, kaut gan pašlaik tā ir ENIAC biedrs. Skatoties uz ENIAC pēdējo dažu gadu budžetiem, var redzēt, ka Latvija ir visai neaktīva šā kopuzņēmuma potenciālajā izmantošanā salīdzinājumā ar citām valstīm. Ņemot vērā, ka manā valstī pašlaik tikai 0,6% no IKP tiek ieguldīts inovāciju un ... (beidzas runātājam atvēlētais laiks)

  Daniel Hannan (ECR). – Mr President, I could make the same speech for every single one of these, could I not? They have all got the same basic problem and it would be tedious for you and tedious for everyone else, so I am just going to repeat the basic point.

Who would miss these agencies, these quangos, if they disappeared? If, by some terrible freak of nature they were all wiped out in asteroid strikes, would any of our constituents feel a deleterious impact on their quality of life?

Rather than standing up and making this speech for every other discharge vote, I am going to call it a day at this one, and leave Members with the thought that we would all be much happier and wealthier and freer if we had fewer of these people telling us what to do.
