The role of the EU within the UN (A8-0308/2015 - Paavo Väyrynen)
MPphoto

Diane James (EFDD). Mr President, the United Kingdom is one of two European Union Member States within the United Nations that have a permanent veto-holding status, France being the other. I will not support any European Union proposal that undermines, subverts or diminishes the UK’s position as a key United Nations member.

The European Union may well have delusions of grandeur to supplant individual Member States on this important decision-making body, but I will never ever support that European Union objective. Therefore I voted against all of the key votes on this subject.
