Accession of Ecuador to the EU-Peru and Colombia trade agreement (B8-1241/2015)
Doru-Claudian Frunzulică (S&D), in writing. ‒ I support the accession of Ecuador to the Trade Agreement with Colombia and Peru, as it will open up markets and increase the stability and predictability of the trading environment. The accession of Ecuador to the Trade Agreement with Colombia and Peru is another decisive step forward in the alliance with important, like-minded, and fast-growing countries and regions.
I would like to call for a prompt implementation of the Free Trade Agreement with Ecuador, as it will contribute to reinforcing the social development model of the country, ensuring the necessary respective safeguard structures, the elimination of inequalities and the protection of workers, peasants and the environment.
The Agreement will provide improved access to the Ecuadorian market for many key EU exports, for example in the automotive sector or for alcoholic beverages. However, the Agreement will not only secure access to markets; more importantly it will also create a stable and predictable environment that will help boost and diversify trade and investment on both sides.
