James Carver (EFDD), in writing. – UKIP voted in favour of the amendment to reject the Council position subject of this report.

Firstly the purpose of the report is to implement a Regulation amending and modernising the Trade Mark regime operated by the EU.

Secondly the Regulation would extend and enhance the ‘Europeanisation’ of Trade Mark law and will allow for the further accretion of power over intellectual property issues by the EU. UKIP believes that all intellectual property matters should be the preserve of the United Kingdom Parliament deciding the nature of the Trade Marks regime exclusively in the British interest.
