Afzal Khan (S&D), in writing. ‒ There are more than 26 million visually impaired individuals across Europe with only 5% of all published books ever produced in accessible formats. Therefore, I voted in favour of the resolution as it calls on Member States to accelerate the ratification process of the Marrakech Treaty to allow greater distribution of books in formats accessible to visually impaired citizens. All except seven Member States have ratified the Treaty and this resolution hopes to put pressure on these remaining countries to unblock.
