Agreement on strategic cooperation between Brazil and Europol (A8-0070/2016 - Claude Moraes)
MPphoto

Claudia Tapardel (S&D), in writing. ‒ Brazil is considered by Europol as increasingly relevant in the fight against organised crime, such as drug related crimes, credit card fraud, illegal immigration, illegal trafficking of human beings, as well as cybercrime. Furthermore, Brazil is relevant in the area of counter-terrorism and asset recovery and the 2016 Olympics are expected to lead to an increase in criminal activities. Therefore, there seems to be an urgent need for Europol to increase its strategic cooperation with Brazil, which would aid and reinforce the fight against organised crime and would contribute to enhancing international law enforcement cooperation. Thus, I supported the proposed legislative resolution.
