New territorial development tools in cohesion policy 2014-2020 (A8-0032/2016 - Ruža Tomašić)
Elisabetta Gardini (PPE), in writing. ‒ I support these new cohesion policy instruments as they will give new tools to the EU in order to provide local actors and governments with better funding for crucial development projects, part of the cohesion policy. This ‘bottom-up’ approach to development and financing is crucial if the EU is to achieve the objectives of the cohesion policy and we must face all the challenges that these instruments will face in the short term.
I believe that the cohesion policy must be a constantly evolving programme to face our modern challenges and I hope that these new instruments can play their part in this. It is very important to overcome any lack of administrative capacity on the side of local actors and then proceed with addressing our changing realities; changing demographics and high unemployment, especially among youths.
