Accession of Peru to the 1980 Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (A8-0267/2016 - Angel Dzhambazki)
Daciana Octavia Sârbu (S&D), in writing. ‒ The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction is an important agreement to help avoid legal uncertainty in cases of cross border child custody. In those cases where custody of children is contested, a quick and fair resolution is in the interests of the child. Delays, confusion and uncertainty, not to mention expensive legal bills, should be avoided as far as possible. I welcome the addition of these new countries to this Convention, which is a vital form of cooperation in our increasingly interconnected world.
