Presentation of the programme of activities of the Romanian Presidency (debate)

Nirj Deva (ECR). – Mr President, the Romanian Presidency is a safe pair of hands for the Brexit process. I want the Romanian Prime Minister to help the British Prime Minister in that process. Two years ago, we thought Brexit would be a piece of cake. Today it is a hot potato, and not a bed of roses for Prime Minister Theresa May, who, with amazing bottle has taken the bit between her teeth and is going the whole hog.

In the House of Commons, it is going down like a lead balloon tonight, but the Prime Minister is not throwing the baby out with the bathwater, nor changing her horses midstream. She knows it is a can of worms, but is determined to get the best for Britain, warts and all. Tonight she is between a rock and a very hard place. We wait with bated breath on a wing and a prayer for some success.
