E-002548-15
Question for written answer E-002548-15
to the Commission
Rule 130
Emma McClarkin (ECR)

 Subject:  Price comparison websites
 Answer in writing

Consumers shopping online and benefitting from the growth in e-commerce should be able to do so with the confidence that the price presented and the comparisons made with other sellers on online platforms are transparent and easily understood. In some instances price comparison websites or online platforms bringing sellers together prioritise results based upon criteria other than solely that of price.

Is the Commission monitoring this practice, and what can be done to ensure that consumers are not misled by the prioritisation of products sold by companies who are members of a platform over cheaper non-member online sellers?
