to the Commission
Rule 130
Andrejs Mamikins (S&D)

Subject:  Use of infrastructure of the ‘Rail Baltica 2’ railway project
 Answer in writing

The three Baltic States continue to implement the ‘Rail Baltica 2’ railroad project. This project does not provide for ensuring regional traffic using the infrastructure established within the project. Bearing in mind the fact that 85% of the project implementation costs are co-funded by the EU, please answer the following questions:

1. Was it the requirement of the European Commission or the stance of authorities of the three Baltic States that no regional traffic be provided for in this project?
2. What is the position of the European Commission with regard to using the infrastructure of the ‘Rail Baltica 2’ project in regional traffic?
