E-005272/2015

Question for written answer E-005272/2015

to the Commission

Rule 130

Roberta Metsola (PPE)

  Subject:              Private sector and development

 Answer in writing

The EU has committed EUR 1.2 billion to the G8s New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition, which aims to bring 50 million people out of hunger by 2020. However, smallholder farmers in numerous countries participating in the programme have been moved off their land without being offered a choice to be resettled.

Is the Commission involved in any form of oversight of the programme to ensure that the goals of a coherent development policy are maintained?
