Question for written answer E-008186-15
to the Commission
Rule 130
Lola Sánchez Caldentey (GUE/NGL)

Subject:  EU funding of Israeli military and security companies in the Horizon 2020 framework
 Answer in writing

On 9 February 2015 the Israeli-Europe R&D Directorate (ISERD), an Israeli government agency, published a document announcing that the EU had already approved 162 projects with Israeli participation within the Horizon 2020 research cycle, to a total value of 452.3 million EUR. A number of these projects are in sectors involving space technology, homeland security and dual-use technology, and thus provide a means of funding Israeli military and security companies.

What measures is the Commission going to take to guarantee compliance with the EU’s commitment not to fund dual-use technology?
