Question for written answer E-012626-15
to the Commission
Rule 130
Ramon Tremosa i Balcells (ALDE)

Subject:  Degree of compliance with animal welfare rules concerning pigs and/or poultry
 Answer in writing

In contrast with the great efforts made in the recent past by the farming authorities and pig and poultry farming sectors in some Member States to ensure animal welfare, legislation in certain other Member States is less strict in this area.

Is the Commission satisfied with the degree of compliance with rules on animal welfare in the European Union?

Has the Commission taken any specific action in this area? If so, what steps has it taken or what demands has it made of which Member States to ascertain levels of compliance with animal welfare rules concerning pigs and/or poultry?
