Request for information on the selection criteria for a project eligible for EFSI funding

Question for written answer E-013777-15

On the Commission website, the ILVA plant in Taranto appears on the Italian page concerning projects submitted to the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI); this is in spite of the various investigations undertaken by the judiciary and the fact that the ILVA plant is clearly at great risk of bankruptcy.

For that reason, on 9 July 2015 the Commission and the EIB were asked for information concerning the selection criteria for projects submitted by the Member States, with particular reference to ILVA in the case of Italy. To date, however, no reply has been received.

In accordance with the principle of transparency, which the Commission itself declaims, can it say what specific criteria — and not the general guidelines, which are already known — does the EIB rely on to support, through the EFSI, projects such as ILVA in Taranto? Can the Commission also provide a copy of the abovementioned projects?
