Rule 130

Subject:  Gender discrimination — Roma women
 Answer in writing

According to recent studies, the gap in education, employment, health and access to housing between the Roma people and mainstream society remains wide and the situation for Roma women in the EU is even worse as a result of multiple discrimination based on both ethnicity and gender.

Will the Commission consider drafting and adopting a new separate strategy concerning equal rights for women and gender equality in Europe, to create equal opportunities and based on the priority areas of the previous strategy, but also with the aim of putting an end to all forms of double discrimination, such as in the case of Roma women?
