Question for written answer E-015255-15
to the Commission
Rule 130
Sophia in 't Veld (ALDE) , Jordi Sebastià (Verts/ALE)

Subject:  Access to contraceptive services and information in the Member States
 Answer in writing

As underlined by the Expert Panel on Effective Ways of Investing in Health (EXPH)(1), the EU should contribute to reducing health inequalities in the EU.

— When will the Commission develop a set of indicators on access to healthcare facilities, goods and services — including sexual and reproductive healthcare facilities, goods and services — in the EU in respect of national competences with a view to gaining a clear overview of the healthcare inequalities existing in and between Member States?

— Does the Commission agree that a set of indicators on access to healthcare facilities, goods and services will be an important instrument for addressing and combating evidence-based inequalities, e.g. via the next EU public health strategy?

— What is the Commission doing to develop initiatives and the sharing of best practice between Member States with a view to addressing the gaps shown by the 2015 barometer on access to modern contraceptive needs?
