E-001619-16
Question for written answer E-001619-16
to the Commission
Rule 130
Iratxe García Pérez (S&D) , Ramón Jáuregui Atondo (S&D)

Subject:  Involvement of women's organisations in the application, monitoring and assessment of Chapter 7 of the EU-CELAC Action Plan on gender
 Answer in writing

Chapter 7 of the 2015-2017 EU-CELAC Action Plan states that its main objectives are to prioritise the issue of gender in the context of bi-regional relations and to underscore the political commitment of both regions to guaranteeing the protection, exercise and promotion of women’s rights.

Women’s organisations have a wealth of experience in promoting equality.

1. Given this, can the Commission say if there is a set timetable for implementing the action plan and how it is involving women’s organisations in bi-regional dialogues on gender and in the application, monitoring and assessment of Chapter 7 of the 2015-2017 EU-CELAC Action Plan on gender?

2. Have the resources needed to implement the chapter, in particular specific funds for promoting and supporting the work of women’s organisations, been made available?

3. What criteria are used to select the feminist and women’s organisations involved in the action plan? What part do these organisations play and how can their contributions and the impact of this dialogue between institutions and civil society be measured?
