The amendments to the Howitt report are highly aggressive towards Iran. We may thus wonder as to the consistency of the position taken by certain MEPs.

— Is the Commission aware of the efforts Member States have made to restore good relations with Iran?— Does it recognise how fragile this rapprochement is?— Is it aware that capital punishment, which we criticise Iran for having on its statute book, is a sovereign matter and that 97 countries worldwide have it, including the USA and Saudi Arabia?
