The Honourable Member is invited to refer to the answers to written questions E-005899/2015, E-011841/2015 and E-002848/2016(1) which address the issue of monitoring implementation and enforcement of Council Regulation (EC) No 1/2005 on the protection of animals during transport(2) and Regulation (EU) No 576/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the non-commercial movement of pet animals(3).

The Commission has no plan to strengthen enforcement of welfare standards for dogs and cats since this matter is not governed by EU rules.
