Parliamentary questions
PDF 101kWORD 16k
25 January 2017
E-000383-17
Question for written answer E-000383-17
to the Commission
Rule 130
Georgi Pirinski (S&D)

Subject:  State of play of ESIF implementation
 Answer in writing

According to data from DG REGIO, the share of ESI Funds allocated to specific projects as of mid-January 2017 stands at 19.4% whereas the expenditures reported are a mere 1.7%. Since we have almost reached the middle of the programming period, these figures are indeed worrying.

1. What are the amounts of the payment claims submitted to the Commission by the Member States’ authorities and what amounts have been disbursed by the Commission based on these payment claims, excluding advances?

2. What are the estimated amounts of European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) at risk of decommitment at the end of 2017 if the current trends continue, and which Member States will be most affected?

3. What measures has the Commission planned to speed up and streamline ESIF implementation and avoid potential decommitments?
