 Subject:  Glyphosate
 Answer in writing

On 29 June 2016, the Commission decided to extend the licence granted to the weedkiller glyphosate for another 18 months, until the Helsinki-based European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) issues its own scientific assessment of the substance.

The Commission set some conditions for the approval of glyphosate. One of them was for the Member States to ensure that plant protection products (PPP) containing glyphosate do not contain the co-formulant POE-tallowamine.

For the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the co-formulant POE-tallowamine is extremely toxic and is a danger to public health.

In light of the above, can the Commission confirm that the sale of pesticides based on glyphosate and the co-formulant POE-tallowamine has been terminated in all Member States and that no grace periods have been granted for such highly toxic products?
