E-004118-17
Question for written answer E-004118-17
to the Commission
Rule 130
Rosa D'Amato (EFDD)

 Subject:  Bari-Taranto railway line
 Answer in writing

Thousands of projects across the EU have benefited from investments under EU regional policy programmes. Some projects financed with EU funds between 2007 and 2013 concern the Bari — Taranto railway line:

freight and passengers on the move in Puglia(1): the beneficiary body of the project is the RFI for investments of EUR 29 000 000, including EUR 14 500 000 from ERDF funds;
more and better trains for Puglia(2): the upgrading work will be carried out by the FSE rail company. The total investment amounts to EUR 135 998 030, including EUR 67 999 015 from ERDF funds;
doubling of the Bari — Sant'Andrea Bitetto line(3): the total cost in millions of euros intended for the RFI is 478.5 of which: NOP 2007-2013 funding: 120.5 (75% ERDF and 25% national co-financing), other public funding: 358;
Bari — Taranto railway line electrification(4): the total cost in millions of euros, intended for the FSE, under the ROP 2007/2013 is 76, of which 62.40% comes from the ERDF and 37.60% from national co-funding.

In view of the above, can the Commission report on the state of implementation of the projects and state whether EU funds have been properly used?
