to the Commission
Rule 130
Paul Rübig (PPE)

 Subject:  Financing of terrorism
 Answer in writing

At present, a crisis marked by tense diplomatic relations exists in the whole of the Gulf region. An alliance of several Arab countries has isolated Qatar politically, accusing it of financing terrorism. This situation presents a serious challenge, in particular, to businesses from the EU operating in the region.

What is the Commission’s assessment of the current political situation in the Gulf region, with reference to security issues?

What recommendations does the Commission have for businesses from the EU operating in Qatar?

What impact will this crisis have on the trade relations of the EU and its Member States in the region?
