E-004771-17
Question for written answer E-004771-17
to the Commission
Rule 130
Jonathan Arnott (EFDD)

Subject:  Rights of Christians in Turkey
 Answer in writing

Turkey has apparently seized a number of Christian houses of worship(1). This constitutes a serious threat to the property rights of Christians, who constitute less than 1% of the Turkish population.

Given that Turkey is an official candidate country, and a recipient of EU funds, could the Commission clarify what action, if any, it intends to take to address this property seizure and whether any withdrawal of EU funding for Turkey is being considered due to this issue or other human rights breaches?
