E-005204-17
Question for written answer E-005204-17
to the Commission
Rule 130
Alexander Graf Lambsdorff (ALDE)

Subject:  German law on censorship obligations for online social media services (‘Netzwerkdurchsetzungsgesetz’) and 2015/1535 notification procedure (TRIS 2017/127/D)
 Answer in writing

1. Can the Commission state whether its spokesperson Alexander Winterstein was acting in line with its procedural rules when, on 9 June 2017 during the midday briefing, in the middle of the standstill period and before the Member States’ deadline for submitting comments expired on 28 June 2017, he stated: ‘The Commission has no intention to block the German draft law, and this never has been our intention’?

2. How does the Commission intend to ensure that the notification procedure under Directive (EU) 2015/1535 is carried out without undue political influence or premature statements in the future?
