9 November 2017
Answer given by Ms Creţu on behalf of the Commission
Question reference: E-005678/2017

In line with the shared management principle, the Commission verified the achievements of the objectives of projects funded under measure 2.5.1, line 2.5, priority II of the 2007-2013 Puglia European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) programme.

Some 260 municipal waste collection centres were implemented and the proportion of collection facilities for separated waste reached 36.25%. As the percentage of collection facilities is slightly below the established target of 40%, the Commission requested additional information from the Italian authorities. The Commission reserves itself the right to initiate actions, including possible recovery procedures, should the justification provided be considered unsatisfactory.

According to the information in the final implementation report of the 2007-2013 Puglia ERDF programme, the waste collection centre in the Municipality of Pulsano was implemented under the abovementioned measure. The waste collection centre was completed and has been fully operational since 9 October 2017.

As regards the municipal waste collection centre of Leporano referred to in Commission's answer to Written Question E-001126/17, the Italian authorities indicated that the waste collection centre was completed and has been fully operational since 6 October 2017.
