Question for written answer E-005678-17
to the Commission
Rule 130
Rosa D'Amato (EFDD)

 Subject:  Municipal waste collection centres not operational
 Answer in writing

The Puglia Region has made use of funding under measure 2.5.1 of line 2.5 under Axis II of the 2007-2013 ERDF OP to promote the ‘Improvement and modernisation of collection facilities for separated waste’.

An amount of EUR 39 112 155.12 of the EUR 58 573 134.00 entered against measure 2.5.1 has been approved for project funding.

The municipal waste collection centre (CCR) is an area containing equipment for the direct storage of separated waste in special containers; there is no provision for any treatment or selection of the material. The CCR in Pulsano, as reported by the local press, is apparently not operational because of the delayed granting of authorisation by the Province of Taranto.

In the neighbouring municipality of Leporano, as pointed out in Question E-001126/2017, there is an identical facility, which is also non-operational.

Can the Commission say:
Whether it has checked that the objectives of the projects funded under measure 2.5.1 of line 2.5 of the 2007-2013 ERDF OP have been achieved and are operational;
For how many of these projects it has begun procedures to recover the funding in question?
