E-005908-17
Question for written answer E-005908-17
to the Commission
Rule 130
Rosa D'Amato (EFDD)

 Subject:  RDP administrative islands
 Answer in writing

The administrative islands of Taranto are rural areas that are under the competence of the municipality of Taranto, but fall within the territories of other municipalities which are home to major agricultural activities, some of an intensive nature.

Administratively, those areas fall within the urban area of Taranto, but in reality they are many kilometres away, sometimes without territorial continuity. Many companies and agricultural businesses are adversely affected by this administrative classification, which prevents them from accessing funds from the Apulia RDP.

For that reason, a request has been made to revise the partnership agreement with a view to changing the classification of the administrative islands within rural areas.

In addition, the President of Confagricoltura Taranto has proposed priority premiums for farmers in the Taranto area with high environmental impact, thereby confirming the willingness of both the Apulia Region and the Commission representative to bring forward this initiative.

Can the Commission:
specify whether Italy has proposed that the partnership agreement be revised to enable the administrative islands of Taranto to access funding under the 2014-2020 Apulia RDP, and
clarify whether it would be possible to guarantee priority premiums for farmers operating in the area specified with high environmental impact?
