E-006370-17
Question for written answer E-006370-17
to the Commission
Rule 130
Mary Honeyball (S&D)

 Subject:  Jewish cultural heritage sites
 Answer in writing
In the light of the fact that the recent destruction of cultural heritage in Syria and Iraq includes important ancient Jewish sites in the region:
1. Does the Commission agree that there are special circumstances in relation to Jewish cultural heritage sites in many parts of Europe, namely the catastrophic loss of their communities of users as a result of the events of the Second World War, which means that Jewish heritage remains to this day, especially vulnerable?
2. Does the Commission welcome the efforts made by organisations such as the Foundation for Jewish Heritage which are seeking to highlight this concern and ensure that Jewish heritage is appropriately protected?
