After five Commissioners attended a meeting this month with representatives from Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Twitter regarding the usage of their platforms for publishing hateful and illegal posts, Commissioner Ansip stated that ‘if platforms will not act proactively, legislators will’.

Can the Commission outline what ‘acting proactively’ would look like?

What metrics will the Commission be using to judge whether the industry has acted accordingly?
