E-000824/2018(ASW)
Answer given by Vice-President Mogherini on behalf of the Commission
Question reference: E-000824/2018

As the Commission pointed out in its answer to Written Question E-000326/2017, the European Union (EU) is naturally obliged to abide by the judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union of 21 December 2016. However, it should be clarified that there is no prohibition, embargo or ban on imports of products from Western Sahara into the European Union.

The EU recalls its support to the UN Secretary-General’s efforts to achieve a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution, which will provide for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara in the context of arrangements consistent with the principles and purposes of the Charter of the United Nations.
