Lyme disease research

Question for written answer E-001276-18
to the Commission
Rule 130
Rory Palmer (S&D)

Reported cases of Lyme disease have been on the rise across Europe in the last century. Meanwhile, a serious lack of scientific understanding of the disease persists and further research is urgently needed to improve methods and best practices in relation to diagnosis and treatment.

In light of the above, can the Commission clarify how much EU funding has gone towards Lyme disease research in the last five years? Can the Commission clarify, furthermore, what plans it has for future research into this condition?
