E-001872-18
Question for written answer E-001872-18
to the Commission
Rule 130
Ryszard Antoni Legutko (ECR)

Subject:  Verification of entities from the European Commission's Transparency Register
 Answer in writing

There are more and more doubts in the media about the actual objectives of the Open Dialog Foundation. One of the worrying facts about the Foundation is that the members of the Foundation’s authorities hold Russian passports acquired in 2014, although the Foundation officially operates for Ukraine.

The Open Dialog Foundation is registered in the Transparency Register and lobbies actively in the European Parliament. One of the tasks of the Transparency Register is to verify lobbyists in the EU’s institutions. Therefore, can the European Commission say:
1. How are entities in the Transparency Register verified and what are the possible grounds to refuse registration thereof or to remove them from the register?
2. When registering the Open Dialog Foundation, did the Commission note that members of the Foundation's authorities hold Russian passports and did the Commission verify the Foundation following the media reports on Russian influence within this foundation?
3. In the light of this controversial information, how will the European Commission, which is responsible for verifying lobbyists, review the current situation in the Open Dialog Foundation and ensure MEPs’ security when contacting this foundation in the future?
