E-002108/2018(ASW)
Answer given by Mr Hogan on behalf of the Commission
Question reference: E-002108/2018

Support to organic farming in the framework of the Rural Development Programme (RDP) for Castilla-La Mancha 2014-2020 was increased by EUR 21.18 million as result of the amendment to the RDP approved by the Commission on 18 April 2017. The total public expenditure foreseen for this measure has thus reached EUR 235.45 million. This amount represents 15% of the total RDP public expenditure, well beyond the EU average which amounts to 6%. The amendment is consistent with the main priorities set in the strategy of the programme: young farmers and organic farming and results from the evolution of budget allocations for other measures.

The funding increase together with a correction on the amount of support for annual crops makes it possible to increase the surface covered under this measure by 127% to 366,000 ha in total.

The abovementioned figures are part of the approved program’s indicators and their achievement will be assessed in the successive RDP’s Annual Implementing Reports and the Ex-post Evaluation as foreseen in Regulation (EU) No 1305/2013(1).
