Question for written answer E-002140-18
to the Commission
Rule 130
José Blanco López (S&D)

 Subject:  Natura 2000 network
 Answer in writing

In its Special Report No 1/2017, the Court of Auditors evaluated the development of the Natura 2000 network, highlighting a number of failings in the management of the network by Member States, including poor coordination, insufficient conservation measures and levels of funding too low to cover specific needs.

On the basis of its evaluation, the Court issued a set of recommendations on managing the network, funding projects and keeping track of the results achieved. What steps has the Commission taken to improve the management of the Natura 2000 network in response to the 10 recommendations made by the Court?
