E-002910-18
Question for written answer E-002910-18
to the Commission
Rule 130
Deirdre Clune (PPE)

 Subject:  Vehicle-to-vehicle communication
 Answer in writing

In its ‘Report on a European strategy on Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems’ Parliament called for a technology-neutral approach in EU policy in order to avoid creating barriers for evolving technologies and to create ‘level playing fields’.

Can the Commission confirm:
That its approach to CITS will comply with Parliament’s call for a technology-neutral approach?
That future European norms and standards will be technology-neutral?

If this is not the case, can the Commission say what specific approaches it intends taking to ensure that evolving technologies can be accommodated and that a ‘level playing field’ will exist in the future?”
